First Look Alternatives

When it comes to seeing each other for the first time, most couples fall into one of two camps. Those who do a first look, and those who see each other for the first time at the ceremony.

But what if you like the idea of both? Here are some alternative ways you can include a “first” without breaking with tradition.

Why Have A First Look

In case you have never considered a first look, real quick, I believe that first looks are amazing because they give you both a private moment just the two of you. It lets you laugh, cry, and shake out the nerves with the person who knows you best. You can admire their outfit, touch, hug, and hold hands.

First Look Wedding Ideas

If you’d rather keep the surprise of actually seeing each other for the ceremony, here are some first look alternatives that you can include instead.

First Touch

Either standing back to back, on either side of a door, or around a corner, reaching out and holding hands gives you a moment to connect with each other before everything begins.

First Photo

Not quite seeing each other or touching, but having the moment documented to be surprised with after your wedding.

Write Each Other A Letter

A sentimental touch is to write each other a letter to read once you're each done getting ready before you head to your ceremony.

A First Look Doesn’t Have To Be “All Or Nothing.”

If you love the intimacy of a first look but also want that big reveal at the ceremony, these first look alternatives give you the best of both worlds. From sharing a letter to holding hands around a corner, these moments help you feel connected while keeping the magic alive. However you decide to do it, the most important thing is making the moment yours.
